What I Miss (During the Monsoon)

These days its hard to get see a good sunset, what with the overcast sky if not rain towards evening. Fortunately previous photos captured such moments, as a reminder and hope for the brighter days ahead.

La Nina Strikes Again

As the mets predicted, the La Nina effect is back now we're near the end of January. This morning I woke up to the sound of water currents, and when I looked out, there's the flood again. Its as bad, if not slightly worse than the last bad one (we've had a few in between). As you can see, my house is again surrounded by water, and from the back kitchen door, its mere inches from entering my house.

Wetness

The monsoon season is here to stay for a while, but we photographers should take every opportunity to take a few shots here and there, and should always be ready for when the rare breaks of rainfall. Sometimes the wetness adds a different persona to common themes.

Breakfast Anyone?

I was munching on seeds and dried fruits for breakfast, on a lazy sunday, when suddenly my OCD overcame me, and I automatically sorted the different types of seeds and fruits. And I thought, why not take a pic!

The Mask Spider

Look carefully and you can see the spider looks like one of those African tribal masks. It looks like a thin man hanging, wearing a mask. The tree it was on was on a cliff edge, so I could not get a better position to take this.

Opportunistic Epiphyte

These bright orange fungi are a stark contrat to the mature bark of the pine trees on which they ook a foothold. The location was on the side of a steep hill, challenging to set up a tripod, slippery as well. These fungi are very tiny, about the size of the tip of your little finger.

Banjir Ban 3

The famous flood of the Bans of Sengkurong! Yes, this is the highest I've seen having lived here for 6 years. Early this morning the water was thigh high along the road in front of my house, while the access road from the main road was waist deep according to the construction labourers who walked in. For the first time, my high ground area was also flooded, but Alhamdulilah, did not go into my house, just the surrounds. My sister who lives next door wasnt so lucky, her ground floor took a beating, and the parquet flooring is gone! The flood currents were so strong, I saw a dog being washed away!
